Abstract

As crisis incidents surge globally, crisis counseling becomes an essential component in counselor training. Counseling programs incorporate crisis counseling courses to prepare trainees for crisis situations. Models of crisis interventions have been published; however, there is a lack of a systemic review of empirical support for these interventions. To advocate for crisis counseling training, it is necessary to examine the evidence-based practice in crisis intervention. A systematic review approach was employed to review journal articles of 18 crisis intervention models for outcomes that demonstrate research support. The results will inform counseling programs in selecting and incorporating evidence-based crisis intervention models.
