Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine mediating effects of shame and fear of abandonment in the relationships betweenperceived marital conflict by adolescents and depression and aggression. Hypotheses are as follows; that (1) perceived maritalconflict, shame, and fear of abandonment and depression and aggression will be positively related, and (2) shame and fear ofabandonment will mediate the relationships between perceived marital conflict and depression and aggression. In order to testthese research questions, path analysis was used. The result from path analysis supported the above hypotheses. These findingsindicated that adolescents who perceived that their parents' conflicts were of a serious nature may experience higher levels ofdepression, aggression, shame and fear of abandonment.
